Athens 10:47Pm
Monday 16th September
Well we are here................finally!!
It is a long way from Perth to Athens. There were two sectors. Perth/Bangkok and then Bangkok/Athens. Cassiana was great for the first couple of hours and then she got restless. She kept saying "Car" which means can we go home now. Finally not being able to sleep she lost it and started swinging from the over head lockers and climbing over seats and saying hello and shaking hands with 250 people on the plane. With a couple of hours left she started to scream and then the last hour she collapsed and fell asleep. The second sector was great she slept 6 hours of the 11 hours. This meant however that Sue and I didnt sleep as Cassiana had her head in Sue's lap and her legs on my lap. Finally Sue had her legs on me as well. We had three seats thank goodness. I didnt sleep at all although Sue claims she heard me snoring !! It was challenging to say the least.
We arrived early morning around 6:30am and took a Taxis to our Hotel. The new airport is a long way from the city and we were in peak Monday morning city trafiic which meant another hour or so. We didnt get to our hotel untill 8:30.
We checked in but our room wasnt ready (of course). We then went to the plaka for lunch and had "greek salad and mousaka". It was just what was needed after a 22 hour ordeal. The one pint beer and ouzo also went down well.
Late morning we came back to our hotel and we all slept for 3 hours. We then went exploring up to the Acopolis and all the main Athen sights.
Dinner was back to the Plaka for squid and Gyros.......There is a great story that happened with dinner but I will let Sue tell it since she is the story teller in the family.
Right now it is 11:00pm Monday night and Sue and Cassie are asleep. Sorry about unot loading any photos yet but I will do that later on. I am having trouble with my e-mail and loading stuff on my lap top):

We were very very tired the first day but we are felling good now. Cassi has settled in well...It is beautiful 35C here.....
Video worked. Weather looks great.send some over this way please. We haven't seen much of the sun this summer and winter is now just around the corner.
Athens looks just the same, I always remember it as a big old noisy city.

Hi guys
Great to see your having a wonderful time, very jealous, enjoy the weather there as it is cold wet and windy in Perth Today. The entire family is suffering a bout of highly infectious gastro started with John on Thursday Michael on Friday Anita on Saturday Nite and me this morning. We are praying that Alex will be immune with Anita Milk.
The Video was good and I assume that is pollution in the background. Stay safe and look forward to see more.
